The 91st of the infamous Indiana 500 rally starts in 2 days. For race fans this will be at least as exciting as previous years. The drivers, cars, shows, entertainment and sponsors are as intriguing as any other year. But it also gives reason for environmentalists to be excited this year. Apparently, the race will be fueling up on Ethanol enriched gasoline for the first time.
This is a great ethanol PR opportunity. Undoubtedly it will increase ethanol awareness in the public. Then it will fend off arguments about decreased engine performance with ethanol fuel as the cars will be racing at up to 200mph speeds around the tracks. Hopefully, it will cause an increase in the ethanol fuel availability at our everyday pumps at reasonable prices.
What are the benefits of Ethanol?
For starters, it is much less damaging to the environment than the petroleum based fuel we use today. Then, it will decrease our dependence on foreign oil supplies. In the US today there are 83 ethanol plants and others under construction. They are produced mostly in the midwest that is in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Indiana, Nebraska, South Dakota and Tennessee among others.
Ethanol is basically alcohol, so the production process is not a foreign matter to us. Most of the ethanol produced today is made from corn with some made from sugar and even expired groceries. The benefits of switching to at least partial ethanol fuel would be tremendous for the environment and our budgets.

Back to what REALLY matters!
Ok I was pretty quick to decide that while Im looking for a new job, I'm going to get back to my project on Global Warming. Since summer is here I have a couple of ideas to be able to get involved in our community here. Plus, we've been out and about so much during the weekends lately, there are quite a few venues that I've been thinking about.
Here's a very good site, if you're thinking about doing something but dont know how or worse dont know WHAT... DO SOMETHING!

Time for a new Page!
So I havent been blogging for quite a while. It was because I'd thought I'd found a job.. and was working.
Just got news today that I am unemployed. The company is going downhill very fast. The funny part is that the company is a Consulting firm, Pragmatek, and their own management is going down the drain, but there's nobody to remedy the situation. A place where they've lost over 20% of their work force within 3months... They're actively hiring, and poeple are joining because they're promising amazing benefits, training and really interesting projects. But then from the first day they tell you oh no, we have no projects right now, sit on the bench. We have a project that we're going to put you on next week. Everyweek. But just not this week. Oh no you cant go to THAT training session, we have somebody else in mind. ummm yea about that salary that we'd talked about, the base is the only one that we pay, the override is always negotiable.
I dont think Im upset that I have new opportunities now, Im just very disappointed and feel tricked. So, lesson of the day: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is! hah!
I'm going to update more often now.
